On the Effectiveness of Aluminium Foil Helmets: An Empirical Study →
Using a $250,000 network analyser, we find that although on average all helmets attenuate invasive radio frequencies in either directions (either emanating from an outside source, or emanating from the cranium of the subject), certain frequencies are in fact greatly amplified. These amplified frequencies coincide with radio bands reserved for government use according to the Federal Communication Commission (FCC). Statistical evidence suggests the use of helmets may in fact enhance the government’s invasive abilities. We speculate that the government may in fact have started the helmet craze for this reason.

The Keffiyeh: My Embarassing Lesson
So, awhile back I was out getting lunch and sporting my seemingly fashionable new scarf I got from work. This one, to be exact:
Anyway… this punk guy comes up to me and says, “Hey, I like your Keffiyeh.” Totally unaware of what he is talking about, and being the socially awkward hermit that I am, I politely utter a “Thank you”, and continue waiting for my food. To my disappointment, he continues the awkwardness with, “What affiliation are you?” Or something like that. Now I was realllly confused. I thought I was just wearing a fucking scarf.
Well, I did a little research, and supposedly scarf I got for a dollar at Hot Topic can be an extremely politically incorrect fashion statement. A keffiyeh is a prime symbol of Palestinian solidarity. The keffiyeh grew into a symbol of Palestinian nationalism in the 1960s and eventually became a trademark of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat:

They look in no way similar.
I won’t go any more into it because frankly I don’t care about politics. It’s just not my niche. Most of it I don’t even understand in the slightest.
So, what I’m really wondering is: Am I just that ignorant? Is wearing a scarf around your neck politically incorrect and possibly offensive? Why? It’s just a scarf. From my [very minimal] research, it seems the traditional keffiyeh is white and black, and sometimes red. Mine was green, is that still not okay?
In no way do I want to offend anyone, but come on. I’m a little nerdy American white girl from Minnesota. How could you think I am making a political statement by wearing a green scarf when it’s cold out?
